Traditional Ethnobotanical Information This indigenous tree has found its niche within the culture of several indigenous tribes. Quechua, Tapipisco, Shuar, Worani, etc. indicate that cultivars have literally been passed down from generation to generation as tribes migrated through the river systems of the upper Amazon. Our expeditions have documented healthy trees that have been sustainably harvested for over 200 years. These trees were hand planted by the elders of the clans as they migrated within the jungle.
