What is MaquiBerry?
The Maqui plant (pronounced Mah-kee), indigenous to the Patagonia region of Chile and Argentina, bears a deep-colored berry that has been consumed for centuries by the Mapuche Indians for its health benefits.
These powerful little berries have been traditionally used to support energy and immune health. Maqui berries also contain one of the highest known antioxidant levels of any berry. These antioxidants help protect the body against oxidative stress commonly associated with aging, pollution and even exercise. Natrol® MaquiBerry is also:
Wild-harvested to protect the environment.
Cold-processed from whole Maqui berries (no damage from heat processing)
Maqui berries are one of nature's most potent sources of polyphenols and anthocyanins. Scientific studies have shown polyphenols and anthocyanins to be powerful antioxidants that benefit health by neutralizing cell-damaging free radicals and helping to protect the body from oxidative stress.
The anthocyanins and polyphenols from the Maqui berry are found in the very dark pigments of the berry. These antioxidants contribute to the berry's very high ORAC (oxygen-radical absorbance capacity) value. ORAC is a proven measurement of antioxidant potential.
