Niacin also known as vitamin B3 is one of the essential B-complex vitamins. Niacin is active in the body in its coenzyme forms NAD and NADP. These two molecules play major roles in a variety of essential biochemical processes involving energy production and the synthesis of important biomolecules i.e. cholesterol. Our niacin is in the form nicotinic acid. Nicotinic acid can cause a characteristic “flushing” reaction when used in high amounts (100 mg or >). Taking several hundred milligrams per day should be done under the supervision of a physician. High dose niacin is often used to help support cholesterol levels already within the normal range.*
Features:
Benefits:
-
Niacin as NAD is involved in the metabolism of glucose, amino acids and fatty acids into energy (ATP) in the body.
-
NADP is an important cofactor in the biosynthesis of fatty acids, cholesterol, steroid hormones, etc.
-
Niacin has been shown to help support cholesterol levels already within the normal range;this includes total cholesterol, LDL and HDL levels.*
-
Helps promote cardiovascular health and wellness via its affect on blood lipid levels.*
