We prepare our Rhubarb Extract from the rhizome & root of Rheum palmatum plants which are cultivated, harvested & processed according to traditional Chinese methods. To assure optimal extraction of Rhubarb's bioactive compounds, the rootstock is harvested in late autumn or early spring, is deprived of its crown, rootlets & outer bark, is carefully slow-dried, and is then thoroughly extracted.
